Mood & Color Sketchbook

We associate each color with a specific emotion. For example, blue is usually sad, yellow is happy, red is angry, etc. For my photo, I chose to focus on the color green. When people think of green they tend to think of jealous. While I thought about shooting that idea, I wanted to do something different and not common. I thought of the color green and other things we associate it with and why. I came to the conclusion of money. Obviously money is green, but I chose this concept because I could incorporate other emotions into this photo as well.

My artwork illustrates a girl crawling up the stairs after a dollar bill. Her face appears desperate for this money. Money can make people crazy and make them do stupid things sometimes. Within my photo, I showed the idea of how money is controlling. This is shown because the girl looks desperately in need of this money, but in reality it’s only a one dollar bill.

My inspiration for my photo came from the way money controls our society. In today’s society, if you don’t have money, you’re not getting anywhere in life. That’s what people want you to think. They want you to think that being rich is the only way to be successful in life. That concept makes people crazy and not think right. It makes people “money hungry”. From my photo, I hope others will take into consideration that having money isn’t everything, it isn’t happiness.
