Childhood Sketchbook

Childhood Contact Sheet

A person’s childhood is filled with many memories. Some are positive, and some are negative. The most important thing about childhood memories is that they stick with you forever, especially the bad ones. I decided to put a twist on my idea and associate an adult with their own childhood.

My artwork showcases a grown adult being scared of a children’s book. In my photograph, there is a grown woman who is reading a children’s book and is clearly frightened by it. You can see she is scared because of her body language. She has one hand over her mouth and the other is holding the children’s book. Although you can’t see her face all the way, you can see the portion of her hand that is over her mouth. Instead of shooting the cliche idea, which would have been a child in bed, scared of a book, I decided to take a photo of an adult. My inspiration for this photo came from many horror movies that are based on kids afraid of monsters, movies, books, etc.
