When you are young, anything can make you happy. No matter if it’s a toy, a favorite blanket, or a stuffed animal. But, as you grow older that joy decreases and interest is lost in something that you onced loved. You develop other interests and other hobbies and forget about that one thing that once brought you happiness. The idea behind my photo was loss of interest because of something new and exciting, usually this is technology.

My artwork portrays a young girl who is playing on her cell phone rather than playing with her dog that is right in front of her. Loss of interest plays a role in this photo because at one point, this girl loved playing with her dog and it made her happy and joyful. Now, she has a new cell phone that she would rather spend her time playing with. The body language of the dog shows sadness.

I got my inspiration for this photo from the worldwide issue of technology and it’s corruption. For years, technology has played a huge role in a daily lives, mostly positive. But now, we are seeing many problems associated with technology, regarding the youth. Kids these days who are eleven and twelve stay inside and are glued to their technology instead of going outside and spending time with their friends. This issue is important to me because kids that age should experience fun with their friends and family not their smartphones and laptops. From my photograph, I hope others will gain a better understanding of the corruption of our youth from technology.
