Chaos Artist Statement

In every teenagers life, there comes a time when school work starts to overpower them. They feel overwhelmed and like they are being “crushed” by the amount of work. In my artwork, I physically showed the impact that school has on a person. I did so by placing many backpacks on my subject to show the weight a student has to carry around with them everyday. Also, I made my subject’s facial expression look frustrated because she is trying to crawl out of a pile of backpacks.

I arrived at my final artwork by finding an issue that I can relate to not only myself, but my peers as well. School was an instant problem I thought about and I wanted to portray the everyday struggle students have. When creating my photograph, I used exaggeration with the backpacks. From adding that exaggeration in my photo, it better portrayed my idea of school work physically and mentally weighing a person down.
