Failure Sketchbook

Failure is something none of us like. As humans, we don’t want to fail at things in life, but naturally, it happens. When we fail, some of us break down and give up, while others fight and try better for next time. For my photograph, I took the idea of failing but made it a positive view. I showcased how in certain situations, failing at things can be positive, instead of negative.

My artwork portrays a group of students at school and the girl on the right is excluded from the group. Her facial expression is opposite than what is expected because she looks happy. She is shown to be happy because although her friends excluded her, she doesn’t care and it doesn’t affect her. She has chosen to accept the fact that she has been excluded but believes she is better off by herself. I chose to shoot this in a school environment because the problem of excluding usually happens between teenagers.

For my photograph, my inspiration came from the life of teenagers and the problems they experience. At some point during a teenagers life, they experience the feeling of being left out and excluded. I wanted to take this photo with this concept so that it shows teenagers they don’t need mean friends in their life that exclude them.
